I’m Vig Mayol, an Argentine visual artist creating paintings inspired by water, light, and the way time reshapes our memories. Through layered surfaces and fluid marks, I explore the space where observation slowly becomes emotion.
My paintings begin with fleeting experiences: sunlight moving across water, a swimmer slipping beneath the surface, a landscape seen in passing. I’m drawn to moments that are constantly changing, where light, movement, and time quietly transform what we see.
Rather than documenting a scene, I’m interested in the way an image shifts as we experience it. A shadow moves, a reflection dissolves, a memory begins to replace observation. What we remember is rarely an exact record; it’s shaped by time, emotion, and everything that happens in between.
Working with layered washes of acrylic, oil pastel, collage, and raw canvas, I build paintings that evolve the same way memories do. Forms emerge, soften, disappear, and return. I leave traces of earlier decisions visible, allowing the painting to hold a sense of time rather than a single frozen moment.
